Colloquia
The project’s work plan anticipates a series of seminars and lectures, through which the team members will inform a wider audience of the progress and results of the research. It will also be an opportunity for other, junior as well as senior, scientists from Croatia and abroad, to present their research in the field of the history and philosophy of science, and related disciplines.

Conference Production and Circulation of Knowledge in the (Semi-)Periphery in the Early Modern and Modern Period
The conference dedicated to the history of knowledge and science will be held in co-organization of our research project and another research project funded by the Croatian Science Foudation, “European Origins of Modern Croatia: Transfers of Ideas on Political and Cultural Field in the 18th and 19th Centuries,” which is conducted at the Croatian Institute of History under the leadership of Dr Vlasta Švoger. Due to epidemiological reasons, the conference will be held on-line (on Zoom) and will be broadcast live of the Youtube channel of the Croatian Institute of History.

At 16h, Dr Jelena Seferović and Vinko Drača will present their research in the history of psychiatry, to be followed by comments by Dr Antić, lecturer in Twentieth Century International History at the University of Exeter, UK.
After a short break, at 18h Dr Antić will give a talk on her latest monograph, Therapeutic fascism: Experiencing the Violence of the Nazi New Order in Yugoslavia, published by Oxford University Press in 2017. The lectures and the book launch are open to public. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Dr Ivana Horbec, a senior research fellow at the Croatian Institue of History in Zagreb and the principal investigator at the project From Protomodernization to Modernization of Croatia’s School System, will give a lecture (in Croatian) titled Between the Tradition and Public Interest: Professionalization of Surgery in Croatia in the 18th Century, followed by a discussion.
