Curriculum Vitae

Hans-Jürgen Warnecke was born on April 2, 1934 in Braunschweig, Germany, and passed away on March 20, 2019. On 28 May 1998, he was elected a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts as president of the world’s leading organization for applied research Fraunhofer-Gesselschaft, president of the German Association of Engineers (VDI) and corresponding member of the National Academy of Engineering, USA. Prior to his appointment as president of the Fraunhofer-Gesselschaft Institute, he was a full professor for industrial production and organization and director of the Institute of Industrial Production and Automation at the University of Stuttgart.

At the end of the 1950s, during his studies in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Hans-Jürgen Warnecke conducted a student internship in Zagreb. Acting as a university professor and president of the Institute, he collaborated with Croatian scientists and experts. The long-standing cooperation related to the international conference AMST – Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology, initiated in 1987 by Academician Elso Kuljanić, stands out.
