Curriculum Vitae
Dragutin Skoko, a Croatian geophysicist, was born on July 24, 1930 in Karlovac. He graduated in 1954 and received his Doctorate in 1969 from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb. He taught in high schools in Karlovac and Duga Resa, and at the Faculty of Science he taught courses in seismology, physics of the Earth’s interior, elasticity theory, and spectral analysis (1958–2000). He is a full professor from 1980, head of the Geophysical Department from 1982–1985 and 1992–1995, Professor Emeritus from 2001. He also taught at the postgraduate study programme of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering in Zagreb, and at the University of Skopje. He has led numerous domestic and international scientific projects in the field of seismology. He encouraged the construction of a new building of the Geophysical Department of the Faculty of Science in Zagreb. In 1985, at his instigation, the Seismological Service of the Republic of Croatia was established. He is a member of the editorial board of magazin Geofizika. He received the Nikola Tesla Award in 1983 for achievements in the field of technical sciences, and Acknowledgment from the International Association for Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior in 1989.
Since 1991 he has been a full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in the Department of Natural Sciences.
