Curriculum Vitae
Ivanka Petrović, a Croatian philologist, literary historian-medievalist and hagiographer critic, was born on June 14, 1939 in Skopje. She graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb with a degree in Croatian studies in 1962 and received her Doctorate in 1975. Since 1964, until her retirement, she has been employed at the Old Slavic Institute in Zagreb. In 2010 she became a full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in the Department of Philological Sciences. Ivanka Petrović is one of the most important researchers of Croatian and European medieval literature and the best Croatian hagiographer critic, researcher of Croatian Latin and vernacular hagiographic literature in the context of the entire Western European, Slavic and Oriental. She researches the beginnings and foundations of the Cyril and Methodius heritage in Croatia, and scrutinizes Croatian medieval literature as a cultural, spiritual and stylistic entirety in all its components (Marijini mirakuli u hrvatskim glagoljskim zbirkama i njihovi europski izvori, 1978; Hagiografsko-legendarna književnost hrvatskog srednjovjekovlja i senjski »Marijini mirakuli«, 1984; Prvi susreti Hrvata s ćirilometodskim izvorištem svoje srednjovjekovne kulture, 1988). She was awarded the 1999 State Annual Science Award.
