Curriculum Vitae
Hrvoje Kraljević, a Croatian mathematician, was born in Zagreb on March 16, 1944. He graduated in theoretical physics in 1966 and received his Doctorate in Mathematics in 1973 from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb, where he worked since 1966, and has been a full professor since 1982. He was on study stays in the USA (Princeton, 1974/75), France (Palaiseau, 1978) and Italy (Trento, 1979, 1981).
His main research interest is in the representation theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras, especially represenations of semisimple and reductive Lie groups and algebras. In addition, he has also been involved in functional analysis, more precisely, operator algebra theory.
He was director of the Mathematical Department of the Faculty of Science (1983-1989) and its dean (1991-98), editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Glasnik matematički (1990-1992) and editor of the Proceedings Functional Analysis (1982, 1986, 1990, 1994). He received the “Ruđer Bošković” Prize for Science (1983).
He was Minister of Science and Technology (2000-2002), Member of Parliament and Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Science, Higher Education and Culture (2002-2003).
He has been a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in the Department for Mathematical, Physical and Chemical Sciences since 1992.
