Curriculum Vitae
Veselko Koroman, a Croatian writer, was born on April 7, 1934 in Radišići near Ljubuški in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He completed his studies in South Slavic literature and philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Sarajevo in 1965. He worked as a high school professor and proofreader, editing the Sarajevo magazine Život (1969–72) and the Mostar-based Osvit (1995–98). He has been a full member of the BiH Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2012.
He writes reflexive poems, succinct, sometimes airtight expressions (preoccupied with existential issues, nature and the homeland: Grad prema sjeveru, 1957; Crne naranče, 1965; Knjiga svanuća, 1967; Svjetiljka od trnja, 1971; Sjaj i rana, 1975; Na tom svijetu, 1977; Dok vlada prah, 1986; Na dan svega, 1997; Sok od velebilja, 2001; Stariji od vremena, 2008, et al.), poetic prose (Zemljom, snovi, 1987), literary criticism, essays, travelogues (Pogled iz zrcala, 1974; Svijet ili dvije polovice, 1979; Potraga za cjelinom, 1996). He also published the autobiographical novel Mihovil (1983).
He researches Croatian literary heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina (anthology Hrvatska proza Bosne i Hercegovine od Matije Divkovića do danas, 1995; Hrvatsko pjesništvo Bosne i Hercegovine od Lovre Sitovića do danas, 1996; Hrvatska drama Bosne i Hercegovine od Matije Divkovića do danas, 2007).
Since 1990, he has been a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in the Department of Literature.
