Hedvig Hričak, was born on September 23, 1946, in Zagreb. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb in 1970. She received her Doctorate in 1992 from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
Dr. Hedvig Hričak is head of the Department of Radiology at the MemoriaI Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She holds a leading position in the Sloan Kettering Institute in the program of research of molecular and pharmacological medical preparations and in the development of molecular imaging by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). He is a professor of radiology at Weil Medical College, Cornell University New York.
Throughout her career, she has been very active in various professional organizations in the field of radiology and scientific bodies of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute, USA. In 2002, she was elected as a member of the National Academies of Sciences of the United States (Institute of Medicine).
The main research interest of Dr. Hedvig Hričak includes cross sectional, anatomical and molecular representation (imaging) of the genitourinary tract with special attention to tumor diseases (cancer of the prostate, ovary and uterus). Between 1983 and 2000, she was a principal researcher or co-investigator in 24 projects sponsored by various foundations and industry.
Dr . Hedvig Hričak has never ceased scientific and professional ties with Croatia. In addition to being elected a guest professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb in 1993, she regularly actively participates in our national congresses.
In addition to the selection as a guest professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb in 1993, she regularly actively participates in our national congresses and provides selfless assistance in organizing the stay and education of our young scientists and experts in the United States. She is an organizer and lecturer in the programs of their continuous education.
She has been a correspondent member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2004.
