Curriculum Vitae

Rudolf Flotzinger, an Austrian musicologist, was born on September 22, 1939, in Vorchdorf, Upper Austria. He graduated from the Music Academy in Vienna and received his Doctorate in Musicology and Germanistics from the University of Vienna in 1969. He he was studying at the universities of Goettingen and Oxford. He was a full professor and head of the Institute of Musicology at the University of Graz. As a musicologist, he made a valuable contribution to the research of the development of multi-voices. His most significant work is Geschichte der Musik in Österreich from 1988, the first history of music in Austria. He also studied the work of some Croatian composers such as Ivan Zajc and Krsto Odak.

He was elected as a correspondent member of the Hazu in 1990 and is also a correspondent member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
