Curriculum Vitae
Ivan Andrijanić was born in 1975 in Zagreb. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Zagreb in 1998 under the mentorship of Vasilije Josip Jordan. In 2003, he completed his studies in Indology and Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2010 with a thesis on Vedāntic interpretations of the White Yajurveda. Since 2005, he has been working at the Department of Indology and Far Eastern Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. He teaches Sanskrit grammar, the history of the Indian subcontinent, and various related subjects. His main areas of research are philological and historical aspects of Indian philosophy and religion, where he was the first to use statistical stylometric methods for authorship attribution and verification in Indology. He has also worked on the textual history of Sanskrit epics and on the contributions of Filip Vesdin to comparative linguistics. He has published a monograph on Vedānta philosophy (FF Press, Zagreb, 2012), the first Sanskrit grammar in Croatian (Školska knjiga, Zagreb, 2019), and a book India: history and culture, which will be published by Školska knjiga in 2024. He has edited or co-edited ten scientific volumes and special issues of journals, published articles in Indological and linguistic journals, as well as articles in conference proceedings and edited volumes. In 2020, he received the annual award from the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts for the greatest achievements in philology.
