Curriculum Vitae
Mateo Žagar was born on February 14, 1965 in Zagreb. He completed elementary and secondary school in Zagreb. Graduated in 1990 with a degree in Croatian language and Yugoslav literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, in the same year enrolled in postgraduate studies in linguistics at the same faculty. Since January 1991, he has been employed as a research fellow at the Section of Old Church Slavonic Language and Croatian Glagolitic Literacy at the Department of Croatian Language and Literature. He is a full professor of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb at the Department of Department of Croatian Language and Literature.
Mateo Žagar is one of the leading experts in Glagolitic paleography and the history of Croatian glagolitic literacy. He has published 4 independent books and 4 books in co-authorship, edited 12 important books and editions, transliterated 7 editions and published almost 60 original scientific papers and about 20 review scientific texts.
Since 2014 Mateo Žagar was an associate member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and in 2022 he became a full member.
