Slobodan Vukičević, F.C.A. is a full professor at the Department of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy and is head of the Laboratory for Mineralized Tissues, Center for Translational and Clinical Research, Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and Croatian Scientific Center of Excellence for Regenerative Medicine. He is the founder of Genera Research, the first Croatian biotechnology company. He was improving in several foreign scientific and educational institutions, such as the Institute of Pathology, the Laboratory for Metabolism and Bone Diseases (Heidelberg University, Germany; 1984-1985, a scholar of the Humboldt Foundation), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Bone Cell Biology and the Laboratory for Developmental Biology and Anomalies (Bethesda, USA; 1988-1990, a scholar of the Fogarty Foundation), NIH, Laboratory of Bone Cell Biology (Bethesda, USA; 1992-1994, co-director), Harvard University, Laboratory for Systemic Biomedicine (Boston, USA, 2007, 2008), pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Inc. (Groton, USA, 1997, 2002, 2005, 2006).

He has published more than 220 scientific papers and chapters in books in high-impact scientific journals that have been cited more than 8,300 times, h-index 48 (Web of Knowledge), or 12,000 times, h-index 54 (Google Scholar).

Inventor is on more than 30 global patents, and the editor of four books on organ regeneration with bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP). He is a member of the evaluation committee for the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “HORIZON 2020”, chairing the Advandced Grants LS7 panel: Diagnostic tools, therapies and public health of the European Science Council (ERC) in 2015 and 2017.
