Curriculum Vitae
Bojan Bujić, an English musicologist of Croatian origin, was born in Sarajevo on October 6, 1937. In Sarajevo he completed his studies in English language and literature (1961) and graduated from the Musicological Department of the Music Academy in 1963. He earned his Doctorate in Musicology in 1967 from the University of Oxford. From 1967 to 1969 he taught at the High School of Music and the Music Academy in Sarajevo; there he founded and led the ensemble of Musica rediviva with which he performed medieval and renaissance music. Since 1969 he has lived in the UK and has been working as a teacher in the department of musicology at the University of Reading, where at the same time in 1972–1975 he was conductor of the University Chamber Choir Palestrina. In 1971 he was a guest professor at Cornell University in Upstate New York, USA, 1976-1979 guest lecturer in the postgraduate course in music aesthetics at King’s College London. From 1978 until his retirement in 2005, he was professor of musicology at the Faculty of Music and Magdalen College, Oxford.
The main areas of his work are music in Italy and Dalmatia in the XVI and XVII centuries, the aesthetics of music and Arnold Schoenberg and his circle.
He was elected as a correspondent member of the Croatian academy of Sciences and Arts in 1997.
