In 2003, the Presidency of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts decided upon founding the Institute for Scientific Research and Artistic Work of the Croatian Academy in Bjelovar; the work contract for the Institute was signed in 2005 by the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Town of Bjelovar and the Bjelovar-Bilogora County.
The activities of the Institute for Scientific, Research and Artistic Work in Bjelovar comprise the following: scientific and expert research in the areas of humanistic, social and natural sciences; organisation of scientific meetings and symposia important for the development of science and the practical use of scientific results; organisation of exhibitions covering the fields of sciences and arts the Institute is in charge of; publication of the results of scientific research in specialised editions.
