Collection of Burgenland-Croatian Literature
During 2001 and 2002 the corresponding member Prof. Dr. Nikola Benčić, one of the best connoisseurs of the Burgenland-Croatian literature, donated the Academy a valuable collection of Croatian books from Burgenland. Regarding the fact that the collection includes, beside modern books, a number of old and rare titles, which were published in the 19th and early 20th century, it was decided to establish a separate collection dedicated to the Burgenland-Croatian literature and to store it separately. We hope that this will offer easier access to readers interested in this valuable library material which represents a chronicle of social, cultural and religious life and tradition of Croats in Burgenland.
Considering that the literature of the Burgenland Croats, which is a minority literature in their domiciliary countries is at the same belonging to Croatian literature, as well as the fact that their language is a part of Croatian language, this new collection might open new views to interested croatists in the future.
